  ? Anyone interested in learning new things might be interested in the library’s newly added Great Courses titles in the DVD collection. These are lectures that include a printed guide. Some selections include “How to Draw,” “Classical Mythology,” “The Real History of Secret Societies” and “Practicing Mindfulness” as well as historical and financial titles.

  ? For indoor fun with the family, the library has gaming titles available for most ages for Wii, XBox 360 and XBox One, and Playstation 3 and 4.

  Examples include “New Carnival Games”(Wii), “Super Smashbros Brawl” (Wii), “Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom” (XBox 360), “Rocket Legaue” (XBox One), “FarCry 5” (XBox One), “LEGO Worlds” (PS4), “Little Big Planet 3” (PS4), “Devil May Cry 5” (PS4), “Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy” (PS4), “Just Dance” (PS4), “Marvel Spider-Man” (PS4), and “Life is Strange” (PS4). Please check with other branches for these titles and others for your specific game console.

  ? Listening to music can be relaxing and the library has several DVDs of concerts, such as “Elvis Lives: The 25th Anniversary Concert,” “Woodstock: 3 days of Peace and Music” and “Johnny Cash: a Concert: Behind Prison Walls.”

  ?The Library also carries music CDs and our digital media platforms provide a venue for downloadable music. Links to Hoopla Digital and Up North Digital are available on the library’s website, manisteelibrary.org.

  ? Manistee County Library participates in the Michigan Activity Pass program. To obtain a pass go to michiganactivitypass.info. By filling out the online registration, families are allowed to visit 400 destinations throughout Michigan. Please remember to check the facility’s website for current information. This program makes parks, theatres, museums, campgrounds and historic sites available for free or at a discounted rate.

  ? For some Halloween fun, one can visit cemeteries throughout the United States and the world with the book titled “199 Cemeteries to See Before You Die” by Loren Rhoads. Looking for more of a thrill? The library has “Ticket to Ride: the Essential Guide to the World’s Greatest Roller Coasters and Thrill Rides” by Patrick Hook. Something quieter and family oriented might be observing the night sky in the crisp Autumn air with “Planetarium” by Raman Prinja or “Stories in the Stars” by Susanna Hislop.

  ? Feel like going for a walk? Take along “Mammal tracks & Sign” by Mark Elbroch and Casey McFarland or “The Scouting Guide to Tracking” by Len McDougall.
